Very difficult CAPTCHA

I am attempting to register in a forum and they have some challenges that are impossible for me to solve. I apologize if this is not really a CAPTCHA. Can anyone solve the following or is this impossible for everyone?

altcoinstalkscaptcha

And the first character is an upper-case letter, not zero. I confirmed that much. The following is the text version of the preceding, minus my guesses.

O + 26 + I +II:
1 x 6 + 16 + I -3:

Never mind. ChatGPT solved the problems. It provided answers that I also guessed but perhaps in different combinations of the two puzzles.

Care to share the solutions? I would guess that the I are Roman numerals, but I have no idea what the O might be.

For me it would be 29 and 19 not 26. so what is the 26 coming from?

I’m going to guess 44 and 19, but I could also interpret 52 and 28.

EDIT: Or also i suppose i could also interpret 108 or 164 for the first one, and 92 for the second.

O

Maybe the ASCII table value? 79.
I agree with @m_hutley without more context this is a goose chase.

I initially presumed roman numerals, but hadn’t accounted for the ‘O’
e.g.
0 + 26 + 1 + 2 = 29
(1 x 6) + 16 + 1 - 3 = 20

If you look at medieval roman numerals on wikipedia, ‘O’ was a substitute for ‘XI’ or 11. In that case I would guess.

11 + 26 + 1 + 2 = 40
(1 x 6) + 16 + 1 - 3 = 20

TIL that O was 11 in roman numerals.

My numbers were based on the possible values for O and I; to wit I have learned there is a third.

I could, to me, have been 1 (Roman), 9 (INDIA), or 73 (ASCII).
O would have been 15 (OSCAR), or 79 (ASCII).

The problem, mainly, is we dont know what sets of numerals are being used.

I am sorry that I did not save the solution, but I asked ChatGPT again. I know we are not supposed to post answers from ChatGPT but I assume this is an acceptable solution.

It says that the letter O is zero and it interprets I and II as Roman numbers. It says the first puzzle is 29 and the second one is 20. One thing I was not sure of is the use of spaces. The end of the second puzzle has no space in -3. I was not sure if that was significant. I think the answer to that is that spaces are insignificant.

I think one important point is that it should be easy to write a program that solves the challenges once someone learns the rules. Another example of where the challenge is likely easier to solve by programs written by hackers than by most people.

Bing bing bing! I think you got it.

This is for the website altcoinstalks dot com. Moderators can remove this if they do not want me to say that. Obviously the website wants to make the creation of accounts as secure as possible but this is probably not as good of a solution as they want it to be.

Hooray!!

If you create a CAPTCHA that is too difficult for a human, I would consider that fail. And ironic that ChatGPT (an AI) solved it for you.

Very true

If the formula is randomized, its entirely possible that you simply got supremely unlucky. There are probably notes to be taken about the use of 0/O in their formulae, but i dont know that i would necessarily call it a failure.

Cant say that i understand using a capital letter instead of the number though if it is meant to be zero.

Perhaps just to confuse a screen scraper? But only if it’s intended to be considered a zero when it displays a capital O.

Which i would be fine with, if they wernt also using roman numerals, which would open the door to other roman alphabet letters. shrug
