Actually twitter cannot be used as a SEO tool because we cannot make back link on keyword which help in Google Ranking. We are just able to tweet our link in it so it will not so much beneficial for seo.
Well, the main point of doing SEO is to get traffic, and you can get it from Twitter - hell a lot of traffic, which could be much more than getting search traffic after ranking for 100s of good keywords!
But, if you’re talking about pushing up your website rankings for a particular KW, then it can’t be done.
The search engines have said that they use Twitter and other social media sites to find new URLs to crawl, so although you may not get any link juice benefit from these links, they can help your new content get found, crawled and indexed faster by the search engines.
Regarding shortened URLs, although these links are nofollowed in Twitter the URL shortener service 301s the link to the actual URL, so you would get the benefit from these links if they were not nofollowed. So the issue with shortened URLs is not that a shortened URL is displayed, this does not really affect your rankings, but what hampers your ranking efforts is the fact that the links are nofollowed.
Yeah it is True , You can get traffic through Social Media sites, but Its not helpful for your Keyword Ranking or your Page Rank!!!
Nowadays SMO websites can drive more traffic in less time for the website.
You cannot get Seo benefits from twitter . It is a social network to share your thoughts not to create links
I think people are getting some misconception about SEO and SMO. They are basically two separate entities, that by having the right optimization you can get benefits from both and vice versa in terms of traffic. The search engines have been changing quite rapidly recently, however if the search engines are indexing social media pages, then it does make sense to optimize it, as for twitter there is very little to play with, but the profile page does go a long way, it gets into the google index, if you have noticed some businesses today have 2, 3 or even 4 results shown on page 1, it makes sense that if you do it right, it counts.
Very good explanation indeed, its very true that Social media plays a pivotal role on SEs. Its because most of the people are on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook so even SEs want to be there and gain matter from them. Take Rebecca Black an example, one celebrity tweeted about her criticizing her and it went viral and even search engines are looking for matter what better than the sites with most people?
True, but then that’s indirect way of getting SEO benefits… Basically, Twitter and FB promotions count towards SMO and are meant for driving traffic to your site rather than boosting SERP rankings…
@Rick - Even if such Tweets get indexed, they don’t stay for too long, and it won’t help in SEO in long run at all…
I think Twitter is great for driving targeted traffic to your site. Not sure about SEO. We use Twitter to showcase our brand to social networking users.
Through Social media like twitter , You get more Traffic!!! Ranking in Google Not improved by Twitter.
For me! i do not good idea about this! Twitter use follow and your member following new news from yours site. if you spam in this with alot link TW can warn you. I see alot friend

Social profiles is a sure way to bring in a lot of traffic to your website. But only if you are active and get a lot of friends.
From my view, fb and twitter are the sources to get traffic, but you cannot get any SEO Benefit out of it like back links, page rank and so on.
