I heard that email lists are a great way to get targeted traffic to your site. If this is so I am wanting to find people who have big lists on any niche that I could have. Thanks
You won’t find quality, legal, optin lists you can have. You may find people with good lists who are willing to let you sponsor an email newsletter or possibly do a dedicated message (although that’s increasingly rare) but really email is about developing your own list if you want something cost effective and conversion driving.
Totally agree with Ted on this one.
Whatever it is you’re selling, find a few websites that cater to that niche and see if they have a newsletter and offer advertising in it. If you wanted to reach webmasters for example, sites like Sitepoint sell advertising in their newsletters (and elsewhere).
Another option is to offer a free report or whitepaper and use PPC or other advertising to get people to your site where they can signup for your list. Of course you then need to provide them with good, valuable info over time to keep them on your list and interested in hearing from you.

Mailing lists are one of the ways to get traffic, but I wouldn’t call it a “great way.” It’s hard to find a list that is not only up to date, but responsive.
As an experienced marketer and advertiser, I have never bought a list for the simple reason that too many lists have names on it who are no longer interested.
Hell, even having your own opt-in form to gather names does not work as well as many think it does.
Many, many people sign into an opt-in form to get additional info, but the very next day they are no longer interested.
That’s not to say that mailing lists don’t work, but the odds are just too great that it won’t.
If you can find a good list that the price is very low, so you can at least get your money back along with a decent profit, only then would I suggest doing this.
mailing list basically used for 3 way link building,
link building with same theme site is beneficial for targeted traffic
And all this time I thought mailing lists were used to contact customers or prospects with a relevant message to drive traffic / leads / sales. How do you suggest using them?
Not totally agree with Jack32. My two years+ experience told me when your list is fresh, most likely they are responsive (10% open and 10% CTR) but as time goes, they might be less responsive. So why you need continue to build your list and find fresh and hot leads…
And one more thing. Don’t just sell them but give some useful and free information so that your list will love you.
It’s all about relationship matters after all.
Email marketing is easy and fast which gives you instant response. Unlike SEO, it takes time to optimize and sometimes if you to a wrong keywords to target, your effort will be wasted.
