Using LinkedIn as a Tool for Backlink Building

Hey Everyone,

I work for a company called Keychain - we are an AI-powered platform that matches CPG brands with manufacturers. We are interested in building out a white hat backlink strategy, and I’m having trouble getting responses from InMail. Has anyone been successful with something like this in a related niche?

Thanks for any advice,
Gabrielle

If you’re a company that matches CPG brands with manufacturers… wouldnt you get your backlinks from just asking your matches to backlink you?

Or are you just spamming random people on linkedin hoping someone will backlink your site they’ve never heard of?

Hey,

Using LinkedIn for backlink building is super smart, but yes, getting good responses through InMail can definitely be tricky.

you should try to first build some real interaction like engaging with their posts, leaving thoughtful comments, after a week or so of genuine interaction, when you finally send a message, it feels way more natural and not like a cold pitch.

Also rather than asking directly for a backlink, you could frame it more as a mutual opportunity, suggest collaborating on a piece of content or offering expert insights for their blog.

Good Luck

I always love how the assumption in this forum section is that every company in the world has a blog that people can guest post to.

It’s disturbing that the only people who seem to want to guest post are spammers online marketeers.

The owner of my company doesn’t want us interfering with the relationships we have with our brands and manufacturers by asking them for backlinks. I know, it’s a shame. So, I have to target niche adjacent companies like 3D wine modeling companies, beer news sites, glassware sites, etc. Then think of a blog topic to work them into. It is completely cold outreach. Does anyone think I will have any success? Does anyone have any other ideas?

It’s foolhardy. A business owner doesn’t want to improve their business by utilizing their current business.. hoo boy. Best of luck to you. Cold outreach is going to have an abysmal return, especially when the cold outreach isnt offering anything, just asking.

I would not anticipate having any success, and any success you do manage to have I would not expect to have a positive return. At best neutral, probably negative when you hit upon a site that will accept any and every spam (which, to be honest, is what you’re doing) attempt and has become a known link farm.

Hey Gabrielle,

If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend joining some link building Slack communities. They’re full of editors, SEOs, and link builders actively looking for collaboration opportunities. It’s one of the easiest ways to build around 15+ high-quality SaaS links per month, all through genuine partnerships.

I’ve personally joined 10+ of these communities, and it’s been a game changer for my link acquisition strategy.

If you’d like an intro or need help getting started, I’m happy to help

I have to laugh at people going into a chat, arranging link exchanges from complete strangers, and then claiming its “organic” activity.

Turning your site into a link farm will do nothing but destroy your site’s SEO reputation.
