Undocumented help features on sitepoint?

I’m a fairly recently new member here, and I have to tell you, I think I’ve discovered undocumented help features in the site.
every time I start a post to ask for some help with code I was writing, I diligently copy and paste my code to the “post new thread” box, and then sanitize it to take out usernames, passwords, whatever personally compromising info might be there. (I’ve done this 3 times in the past 2 days) All three times, as I was scrubbing my code, I’d find the solution to my problem, that I previously had been staring at in my text editor for a couple of hours, wondering why I couldn’t find it.
Therefore, I propose a new forum with no posts in it, where people can start new posts, answer their own questions to themselves, and then hurriedly abandon the post before someone has a chance to see the silly mistake.

Just my two cents

You could set up your own personal version of this on your own computer.

Bah… that would probably break this hidden “feature”

Usually stripping down a problem area of code to its most basic components helps me determine where an issue might be. Also, preparing it for someone else to look at sometimes helps to, since you have to explain it in a way so that they understand what you’re trying to do, so you tend to look at it with new eyes.

I’d say you have a good start on developing that technique of bug hunting and problem solving…it just takes some practice.
