Traffic from Philippines and Malaysia etc

For some reason the majority of my traffic to one of my websites comes from the Philippines and also a good amount from Malaysia and Indonesia… What should I do with it? Probably not a whole lot of revenue to be had there?? Is it traffic worth blocking? Or do you guys think I am getting something out of it… Or can be getting something out of it…

if it’s costing you extra money, I would block it
if it’s slowing down your server I would block it too
otherwise keep it, you will never know you might get good money in the future but right now , I doubt it

Yeah, I decided to serve them up some pop-ups, see how that works out. Because their clicks through adsense aren’t worth anything.

If you can’t make a profit on the traffic then blocking it is one option.

Personally, though, I would see if adding some pops or other more intrusive ads (dhtml takeovers, interstitials, etc) could either make a small profit from traffic from those countries or at least break even.

Blocking traffic really should be a last resort in my book once you’ve tried every other way to monetise them. You never know if that traffic might be worth something in the future or how potential opportunities could come from those sectors - all of which you may miss out on if you block them.

I totally agree with the point as we might be blocking potential clients

My main concern was the bandwidth involved, but I figured out why it was so high. I found the website I bought didn’t have any thumbnails generated so all the small images everywhere were actually the large file just with smaller html dimensions… I guess that’s something I should have looked at before I bought the thing. It’s going to be a pain to fix. Do images not appear all jagged and ****** anymore when downsized through html… I wish they did, so i would have known. Browsers have come along.

Haha - good to hear you’ve worked out a solution.
From my experience - most countries are worth leaving open to as bandwidth is relatively cheap (unless you are streaming video or other high bandwidth activities), and you can monetize most traffic. Adsense does a pretty good job of catering to all countries, but as I said before - I’m not against adding pops to other similar ads to make up for lower eCPMs.
