One of my client is designing a website for his book. Can you please suggest me some elements that he should include in his HOMEPAGE ?.. I told him to have an introductory paragraph, some reviews, upcoming events etc.
What else could I add ?
It would be really grateful if anyone could provide me a reference site of a “Book”.
[FONT=verdana]What is the main purpose of the site? Does he plan to use it to actually sell the book, or just to create interest, or what?
If he wants to sell the book from the site, then he should put a prominent “Buy now” or “Add to cart” button on the home page - in fact, on every page. If he doesn’t want to have to deal with accepting payments and fullfilling orders, he can place a link to the book’s page in an existing store like Amazon.
If he wants to provide a forum where people can discuss the book, then again he needs a prominent link to it from the main page. It would also be a good idea to show a short summary of the most popular threads (like the “Highlighted Forum Discussions” here on Sitepoint).
Apart from that, the ideas you have already mentioned sound about right to me.
[FONT=verdana]Glad it was useful, Sherlyne. Don’t forget that, if he plans to sell the books himself, he will have to make sure he has the infrastructure in place to receive payments, despatch the books, deal with complaints, and so on.
