I have previously used Nod 32 but it takes too much memory and now the overall system performance is v.slow :(, My computer is my like my office computer where i do all the work recevie mails from outlook, My friend suggested me that Avast is good but i have no idea about it :shifty:,

Kindly suggest

^^^ I agree, I use Microsoft Security Essentials in 3 computers, an old P4 machines, a nice AMD box and my [URL=“”]MSI Netbook. Better than AVG or Avast, thats for sure.

Microsoft security essentials! It’s ultra lightweight and the engine is pretty good

I would recommend avast antivirus.

Thank you all for your replies

Well Now i see between Avast and Panda, I am not sure one thing with panda is that does it give web surfing protection e.g. if i goto a unknown website and on some page there is some dangerous script/virus there - Will it protect my PC ?

Also Is there too much difference between Avast Free and Avast Pro - I compare both products and just think that Avast Free is enough. What you guys suggest

Panda Antivirus Pro 2010 is best with ultraFast scan engine, 30% faster than its predecessors, Panda’s exclusive SmartClean technology.

I suggest you Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus which is fast, effective, easy to use and consumes low CPU.

Avast! Home Edition is the best antivirus for lightweight Pc.Simple User Interface,Memory test during the program startup, Simple and easy working with the scan results.

Uninstalling AVG and going with Panda, not only saved me 10% on my RAM use, but it also got rid of the annoying ads in AVG too.

I second that. Avast is very nice. I switched to it from AVG several years ago.

Panda is the perfect choice for the lightweight PC’s.

AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 9.0 provides essential anti-virus and antispyware protection. The software also includes the Free AVG LinkScanner.

You are right usman i think Avast antivirus free edition is best for lightweight PC’s

Avast runs well on less powerful hardware.

hmm it looks good but it currently don’t have Anti Web Scanner as i see its forums. Any reviews on some other which fits best.

I like Panda Cloud Anti Virus, it uses less RAM than some alternatives (AVG) but if NOD 32 is too resource intensive I am not sure.
