Subscription Based Vs Stand Alone Application Sales


In the next few months, we will be rolling out an application geared for a individuals involved in the Domaining niche which in short aids in attracting buyers based on their portfolio. The application can be geared as a stand alone version (for download), though I know of some horror stories with this method from a technical and sales standpoint.

I am curious to read some of your opinions on subscription based applications vs stand alone versions and what you feel is a preferred solution?
