Submitting to sites similar to Alexa.com? Waste of Time!

Hi,

I have seen several websites similar to alexa.com, for example: statbrain, quarkbase, compete etc., Most of the people consider submitting their sites to this kind of websites for boosting their traffic. But, do you think simply typing the domain names in their box to see the stats will build link to us and increase our traffic? Is submitting to this kinda websites really effective?

I think its waste of time. What’s your opinion?

For the most part, taking the time to submit your site to anything is a waste of time. The vast majority of users will be using Google, Yahoo and Bing to find your website based on their keywords. All three of these search engines will automatically index your site without your intervention.

If you spend 5 minutes submitting your site to a little known search engine I would argue that it’s 5 minutes you didn’t spend improving the quality and content of your site.
