SSL certificate transfer to new IP

Hi All,

I have an SSL certificate registered to a specfic domain on my current server. I am now moving that domain to a new server and new ip address.

Can I copy the SSL certificate and install it on new server or do I need a new one issued to my new server’s ip.

The SSL is registered to a domain not an ip address.

Any idea would be helpful.

Hi,

As it’s issued to a domain then it doesn’t matter what IP address the domain is on, as long as you’ve got the key file and the certificate then you can move it :slight_smile:

Im not sure if im missing something simple here, but when I read about installing SSLs in IIS7. People mention to click the “server certificates” icon as step1… but this is not available on my free install, where do I enable this???

Really should revoke and re-issue, private keys are not meant to be moved through things like “the cloud”.
