Does anybody here use a Solid State Drive? If so, what brand our you using, and you thoughts? I’m thinking about getting one for my Desktop rig, but didn’t know where to start…
Yup, I have one. I’m not on the PC that has it right now, but I believe it was the Agility 2, 60GB. I’m sure it’s a drive from OCZ.
I love it. It doesn’t make any sound whatsoever, and it considerably speeds up opening heavy programs like Photoshop. That opens in about 5 seconds on my PC, while the rest of the hardware isn’t that spectacular (dualcore 3,16Ghz , 4GB DDR3)
Before the SSD I had a Raptor (not the VelocyRaptor, just a 10k raptor, 50GB) and while that one was also pretty fast, the difference is surely noticeable (the SSD is a lot faster) and I’m very happy I don’t have sit next to that noise anymore. My PC is a lot more quiet 
I am using an OCZ 80GB SSD, I wish I had held out for the Intel Elmcrest ones or even a newer one with 500mbs r/w however it’s still insanely fast. It’s the biggest upgrade you’ll get for the moment, sure a processor speeds up the system and RAM speeds up memory etc, but your HDD still has to read/write everything so making it faster is a win-win for me.
