Spyware.IEMonster and Security Tool

I think I may have made a dumb move and inadvertantly allowed a trojan onto my computer: perhaps Spyware.IEMonster. I use PCTools AntiVirus to scan and now I keep getting pop ups from Security Tool to download a removal tool. I’m sure if I have anythign I can remove it myself. Is anyone familiar with what may be happening here so don’t need to reinvent the wheel? I would appreciate any tips you may have before I get to researching. TIA!

I found this free removal tool on cnet, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Do a search…everythign is locking up on me right now so no link…sorry. Off to do the removal now!

Malwarebytes AntiMalware is a good tool , even the free one. other to try out if this doesn’t work is Spyboy Search and Destroy or AdAware.

if you experience problems removing threads, try to boot up in safe mode and do the scan and removal from there.

Another tip would be to delete all temp files before doing any removal.

Good Luck

Its gone and I’m good. Thank you!

Spyware.IEMonster is a monster of a browser hijacker monster that pimps XP Antivirus Protection, one of the latest rogue anti-spyware applications.
Infections of Spyware.IEMonster can be removed by running installing and running an anti-spyware program such as Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. An infected user can also perform a malware scan of their system using tools available online. One such tool is the PC Safety Scan that is provided by Microsoft OneCare.

interesting for me, thanks
