I just did all these and my FX is twice as fast. http://www.ubuntugeek.com/speed-up-firefox-web-browser.html
I would not recommend doing as that article says and disabling TCP/IP version 6, why? Many ISP’s are starting to implement the assignment of v6 addresses to help deal with the current shortage of v4 ones. My ISP has already started rolling them out so it could cause a few issues in the future.
Yes, the other browsers, including Chrome, are much faster on Mac. I’m not sure if that’s because of all the developer addons etc. I’ve got for FF or not. Still, I much prefer FF for development.
Wow, Ralph, that is a fantastic link! I’ve saved all the Javscript Live articles with stuff I didn’t want on it. I can now clean that up.
Yes, I cleaned up all those pages before printing to PDF. Makes such a difference!
I’ve used these customized config settings for FF for the past few years but I still find that Opera and Safari run faster. At least they do on Mac OS X.

Nice one, Eric. I’m sure I need to do this too. I just printed the article to pdf so I can go through it in detail offline later. (Before printing, I used this cool Printliminator bookmarklet that removes unnecessary junk from the page that you don’t want printed. I love it.)
