SPAM Posts passing though WP

I have the latest version of WordPress installed, I’m getting these SPAM posts that don’t get approved but get sent to me for approval, I’ve never encountered this until the past few weeks, how do I stop it ?

I recommend installing Akismet

I second that :eye:

Its so far the best way to fight SPAM, it’s Just a great time saver & i have noticed that in most of the WP installations it comes by default

(you have to activate it through admin panel)

One interesting fact from the WP site:

How does Akismet work?

Each time a new comment, trackback, or pingback is added to your site it’s submitted to the Akismet web service which runs hundreds of tests on the comment and returns a thumbs up or thumbs down. As a result, you don’t have to waste your time sorting through and deleting spammy comments from your blog.

I forgot to mention that I have Akismet installed and activated !

Oh sorry, you just don’t want to see the e-mails?

I don’t want to see the SPAM emails, no.

Look under askimet or general comment settings to see if there’s a ‘don’t notify me’ checkbox. If not you have to deal with it. Maybe set a rule on your e-mail.

Thans rGuy, for the tip

Akismet won’t show up in my plug-ins area and I installed it like any other plug-in !

Did you enable it? look under the main options for the blog

I can’t enabled it, because it’s not showing up in the plug-ins list, very odd.

Edit

I am not sure what to say then, sorry. Looking at the quoted email you originally posted, you have it installed. Then in #4 you said you have it working, then in #9 you said you don’t have it.

I would ftp into your site, go to the plugin directory and see if you have an askimet folder there. You may want to follow the installation instructions

I made a mistake mentioning that I had Aksimet installed. I have Aksimet installed via FTP, like every other plug-in. Except the Aksimet plug-in doesn’t show up in the WordPress plug-ins list ?

Solved/Working

Glad you have it working, I really couldn’t help on the basis of what you said in #13.
