Spam on some emails, not others [cpanel]

Hello everyone,

For long time, I’ve been using multiple emails,

I have two emails: user1@samedomain.com and user2@samedomain.com - user1 is used a lot, it’s my primary mail, user2 is my friends email, he don’t really use it that much… It’s running on same domain, but I Never get spam, but he gets like 10-15 mails/day with spam…

We’re running cpanel on the server… And I can’t find out why he gets everything, and I get nothing.

Anyone that knows how to prevent some spam mails?

user2 gets more junk/spam mail than user1… And user2 is nearly never used… But gets ALL the spam mails… user1 doesn’t get any spam really

Are you saying that user2 just gets more mail, overall when comared to user1?

My guess is that the user2 address is listed somewhere on the web or in a mass mailing list, and this is why it is getting more mail. Your user1 email address is being kept relatively clean.

Is user2 a catchall or common name e.g info@

user1 = lucas@ domain.tld
user2 = simon@ domain.tld

So it’s my name, and my friends name we use, and then the domain.tld

And no it’s not a catchall :S I also have mails like info@ domain.tld, contact@ domain.tld, billing@ domain.tld, account@ domain.tld - Which in my opinion is much more ‘standard’.

I don’t have a noreply, because I can’t see the use of it.

Is it possible that user2 has signed up to something in the past that has gone on and sold / distributed his email address to spam lists? Getting lots of spam is never a good thing but if your email gets ‘out there’ then there is sometimes little you can do to stop it.

The weird thing, is that it should be my mail (user1) that was signed up to a lot of stuff, not his, because he haven’t used it really :S

Is it a domain that you have taken over - i.e. one thats been registered before? it may be that during that time the email he has was used more?

Equally, if his name is more common that yours? tim@ for me gets hit a lot, but if i use timigoe@ on my domains then i don’t get any where near as much.

Maybe that can be the problems, with the name is more common, but what I know, the domain hasn’t been registered before!

I thing the problems are happening due to activating the unwanted links in the past… You can change the setting to disable this spammer mails into filter part to make clean… This could be for my knowledge…!
