Some Ideas to Increase SERP

Just wondering if any of these ideas would work? Im creating a wordpress theme for product reviews so want to get the most out of it.

Make the blog title a H2, and make the description/slogan a H2. I’m really not overly concerned about the blog title.

Make the page title, the part that makes up the post a H1. I feel this is very important as it shows more relevance than the blog title does.

Make sub headings in the page/post H2’s.

Things like page headings i.e (Navigation, Footer etc) make those normal P tags. They serve no special purpose for maximizing SEO.

Make the links to other products (i.e. navigation) H3’s, or possibly H2’s. The title of each anchor in the navigation will be something like “Airsoft Water Materess X32”. Because I want to rank on these keywords I want as much juice from the page as possible.

And I think that’s about it. Unless anyone has any other ideas.

I know this will break the normal rule of accessibility for screen readers etc. But the main purpose here is to get adsense clicks and rank in the SERPs. These are really sites that are created and left to create a passive income, whilst giving relevant and GOOD content to the user.

Part of SEO is to make your website accessible. Without accessibility your website simply won’t rank well which defeats your main purpose of ranking well and hence generating revenue with AdSense.

It sounds like you’re putting too much thought into making everything bit of content fit within a heading tag. There’s 6 heading tags for a reason: so you can have a logical hierarchy. Place your title in the h1 tags and work your way down. You can extend beyond the h2 tags.

The page will still be accessible. I’ve not changed to much. The only thing I have changed that is outside the realms of convention is make my navigation elements H3 to give them a little more weight.

Usually it would look like this:

<h3>Pages<h3>
<ul>
<li><a href="page.html" title="some page">Sony Playstation 3</a></li>
<li><a href="page.html" title="some page">Microsoft XBox 360</a></li>
<li><a href="page.html" title="some page">Nintendo DS Lite</a></li>
</ul>

But now it looks like:

<p>Pages<p>
<ul>
<li><a href="page.html" title="some page"><h3>Sony Playstation 3</h3></a></li>
<li><a href="page.html" title="some page"><h3>Microsoft XBox 360</h3></a></li>
<li><a href="page.html" title="some page"><h3>Nintendo DS Lite</h3></a></li>
</ul>

That’s not really made anything less accessible, and if you look at the design of the site, it’s very simple. Aside from that everything is as it should be.

I will do some cross testing anyway with a few variations and see what comes of it.

how many h2 tags do you plan on putting on your page? I thought the best header tags application works when you use one of each h1-h6

That makes more sense. I was going on your original comment about breaking rules of accessibility for screen readers. (:
