If you use social book marking in the right way that will be a traffic source. dont over do your links there, otherwise it will be considered as a spam.

From SEO point of view it is a really good tool provided that they are do follow but I agree with joelchrist that if you over do it then you will be in a lot of trouble. Not only for site promotion, it is also a nice place to get your self up to date with different happenings and most importantly of all increasing your web presence.

if you overdo it you can actually get banned by Google. Just stick with 12 and don’t worry about the rest.

Just stick to 5-6 good social networking sites. Don’t believe the knuckheads that tell you submit to 200+ sites. It will not do you any good, and chances are it will be seen as spam. The key here is just to get your content out there and get people talking. When people talk your stuff floats around the internet from various sources.

You should submit your valuable links into the high page rank bookmarking sites.We have got good result by book marking our website into various bookmarking sites like digg, face book etc. But do not submit more links in single site.

Social bookmarking and social community is the best for ranking. but u post more than the limit than the google send ur website in send box and there in no any disadvantages of social bookmarking and a most important thing that u use tile like as a news not keyword otherwise the administrator remove ur submission.
