Sitepoint Pages: Energy in Mac OS Safari

When reading tutorials or other articles from the Sitepoint website, Energy Impact as shown in the Activity Monitor is elevated. This is also true in “reader” mode. Typically, while the page is open both Energy Impact and CPU % run from 30–50% constantly. I know my Mac is older, but very few things drain the battery like these pages.

I like the tutorials a lot, but the energy drain really concerns me, especially on a site geared toward making well behaved websites. I assume it has something to do with the advertising.

Does anyone else notice this? Any thoughts on resolving it?
