General website translation questions. Good or bad practice?

I’m adding a german website that is a complete copy of my english version. As I am translating the english text to german, I am leaving the english text in the german page as hidden text, so I can understand what the german text means side by side. e.g.

<!- English text - Internet Connection for updating operating system files during E-Link software installation.->German text - Internetverbindung zum Update der Betriebssystemdateien während der Installation der E-LINK-Software

Is this bad practice as it may effect my SEO?

if you have commented out the text eg <!-- this is some text --> then it shouldn’t affect SEO. If you have done display:none; then you might find google does think you are trying to do something dodgy and mark you down.
