Should I place Facebook and Twitter buttons on my sites

Hello,

I saw many websites that had Facebook and Twitter buttons. How do they get traffic by placing these buttons on their sites or blogs.

I have some dating sites,

Should I place Facebook and Twitter buttons on my dating websites?

Thanks.

You’re in a slightly tricky position there, because of the nature of your sites.

For example, if I find a site I really like about a band I like, my favourite film, top web design tips (etc), I might be very happy to tag them on Facebook and Twitter for everyone else to see that I use and like those sites.

But if I was using a dating site … I’m not so sure you’ll get a lot of people wanting to broadcast that to all their friends and family.

It probably won’t do any harm to put the buttons on your site, but don’t get your hopes up too high of getting a lot of ‘likes’.

A facebook Fan page would help people to quickly find your updates and same for a Twitter page for your site - way of branding your website.

I hope you have a blog attached to your dating site, if you have a blog where you speak dating or tips, at least add Facebook like/share and Tweet buttons its worth a little ! you may get new people and why do you want to avoid it…

Thanks.

Unfortunately, Facebook and Twitter are probably more often misused than not. Think about the purpose of social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter and how they fit in with your marketing/brand strategy. Keep in mind that they’re very different tools and just because one works well doesn’t mean the other will too. If you’re going to launch a Facebook page, what is the purpose? Why should people use it? How are you going to incentivize them to use it? Are you diluting your efforts by using more than one social networking portal?

The right answers to your social media or marketing questions are never east and often about as clear as mud. That being said, if you can provide a complimentary service on Facebook to your dating site, then it might be worth a try.

Also remember, that when someone likes/follows you, the people they know see that, so people don’t like/follow sites they aren’t happy to be seen following. People look cool when they follow @StephenFry, but less so when they follow @HardcoreMonkeyPorn!

So, you have to bear in mind whether social media is really a viable part of your marketing mix - if not, don’t waste time on it.

I am totally agreed to add such buttons at your website these are like rss feed for your site. People have lost to ree rss they just want to visit at face book to take your site updates. Its new tend and people just want charm with easiest way

I add a post on my Facebook and Twitter pages for everything that I write for my websites. You cant go past the benefits of these social media websites. Why not use the Facebook and Twitter buttons on everything you publish? Your audience will be broadened and you potential traffic increases.

In my mind such buttons are very useful. For example I put a bar of buttons with not only Facebook and Twitter but some other popular social sites. A searchbar with good compact design will also help your visitors. For instance xisearch.com or Google are very comfortable and high-output for these purposes.

Social media buttons are one of the most important aspects of a blog or any site for that matter. They are the sharing factor simplified, if your lacking your sharing buttons your going to lack the “online word of mouth”, so to speak.

It is a sure thing to do… Thus you will be creating your own community of interested potential buyers.

yes it is very important to to inform your blog activities in social networking sites.sharing about your blog with their friends in community is helpful to any blog and it gives more traffic to your site.

Social bookmarking helps drive traffic to your site. Also, don’t forget to add the google Plus One button to improve your SERP rank :stuck_out_tongue:

Seems we have a consensus here. Thread closed.
