I’ve never bought or sold a site before but I’m a web developer whos always wanted to own and operate a blog exactly like this one being sold on flippa.
It looks like a very good quality site, well branded, original content, PR5.
The buy it now price is 20,000 but that seems terribly overpriced considering it only makes about $250/month in revenue. It is my understanding a site is only worth 12x its monthly revenue.
I’m also wondering why no one else on flippa has taken any interest in it. I’m the only one whos been commenting on it.
Can anyone give me some advice or suggestions on how much this site is really worth paying for.
I see it in a lot of places too but that’s a load of nonsense. Some sites are not worth 2x and some will happily sell for 200x.

A note for new buyers and old: It is not the amount of traffic that matters, but the quality. Ecoist has very high quality, true traffic and true in bound links.
I’ve got news for him, it’s not the amount of traffic either, it’s the money and it’s making very little profit at the moment. Unless you can see a way to make a lot more than he is making I wouldn’t bother bidding beyond the $2K he’s currently got.
High quality being defined as what exactly? Are good US citizens who care about the environment and compost high quality traffic? Under some definitions sure, but from a profit making perspective high quality traffic is people who click on ads and buy things through your affiliate links.
Judging from his profits, his definition of quality is different than mine.
On the face of it, definitely seems way overpriced. 20.000 for a site thats making 250 a month does not equate. Even if you are certain you can monetise it a lot further, the fact is, that still doesnt equate to such a high premium
The alexa rank is very low so i dont believe that the site is going to make profit $250 per month and if it really makes then i would believe it will only from link sales.A pr5 site should have good alexa rank.

Alexa rank is pretty worthless as a measure of anything. And there is little to zero connection between PR and Alexa rank. There is no particular Alexa ranking that a PR5 “should have”.
Check the backlinks. If it is not stable, I would not buy it. Some people simply purchase links that disappears in a month or so. Another thing, traffic must be constant. That way, you will make the same amount of money he does.
Buying a site 100x monthly profit, is dangerous.
It could lose traffic easily, as it is not in such a good niche…
The best i evaluate it is $1800, and not more. The domain is good, so the value may go to $2000, but not more.
The seller is asking way too much for the site…
