Should / Can we use a wrapper on this scenario?

By taking into consideration that those rows will be wider or thinner regarding their contents and their pages, so a “static” background image would not work as a fake solution here, what can we do to make this layout happen as a flexible layout:

A wrapper element couldn’t be used here I believe… any clue ?

That’s quite easy, actually. What you need is a series of 100% width divs, each one holding a band on color as a background image or background color.

Inside each of those divs you have a centered inner div for the content area, set to the desired with (be it a pixel, em or % width).
