Setting up a web design agency

Hey there guys,

I have spent a few years now doing sites for people as a hobby and have buried my head in books for long enough to realize that I have a skill which is now worth something. Whilst I am no webmaster yet, I have a strong understanding of HTML, CSS, Js, Jquery, PHP, MySQL, Apache, Flash etc etc.

Anyway my question is, what is the best way to go about making the transition from doing the odd freelance job here and there to running a successful agency. For those of you that do run similar businesses, how do you market them, do you get most of your business, from your local area word of mouth or from the web using SEO techniques? What sort of prices do you charge for a full Front and Back End Dynamic CMS website?
Sorry lots of questions, any help would be much appreciated.

kind regards

Will

Try getting a job at an actual working agency and learn. You’ll get a far better insight into a dozen related issues, and answer several dozen question you have not asked but probably should.

Thanks for the advice

budgeting!
You may find you wont make any real money for a few weeks or even months, take that into account if you are going freelance as not having a guaranteed weekly wage leaves you vunerable
