SEO Companies Popping Up Every Where

I notice a long list of local SEO companies popping up every where… I started doing seo back in 2001, when it was much easier! I had a SEO website I sold off, I am starting back and I found that a lot of these guys are taking money from clients and they are not producing, its getting hard and hard to get people to trust… Is anyone else experiencing this??

absolutely, from my experience i noticed that most people i speak with have been burned, by someone else claiming to do seo but produced no results. when they come to me i give them testimonials and other forms of proof and results.

Yes true! They both rip off artist! I just launch my new website and I am already on page 3 for 2 keywords, by the end of the month page 1 and #1 for the keywords that will get the most traffic! But I have had great results in the past checkout my old press release, I sold of this company back in 2011

I will NEVER pay for SEO. You just don’t know what you are getting.

I paid for a reputable (supposedly) internet email marketing company a few months back and the click through rate when they supposedly targeted my market was PATHETIC. I had a bigger CTR when I did it myself.

You just don’t know who to trust out there. SEO companies probably need to reverse their marketing i.e We pay you when you start producing results instead of the other way around. If they are so confident in their capabilites I would be HAPPY to pay but as it stands you can forget it.

There are some doctors out there who will do nothing more than steal your kidney and leave you unconscious in a bathtub, but does that mean you shouldn’t have a triple bypass when you need one?

As long as an SEO company is pitching the promotion of content in a way that they can be help accountable, there is plenty of great reasons why SEO is one of the most valuable forms of marketing out there.

It is hard to sell this nowadays though, everyone devalues the practice because of how long it takes. SEO is now more like branding for Google, it takes a lot of time and work to do it effectively than it did 18-24 months ago, but if you have a good SEO team, you will be glad you hired them in 6 months.

Nice

Lawless,

Valid points here. Many of the other members have given good tips and raised good points. I think we are at the “wild, wild, west” stage of search engine optimization and also many other forms of web marketing. Even though the internet has been around for a little while now, it has only recently been growing aggressively in terms of online business.

I think you see the same kind of behavior you speak of in any industry that is relatively new and not yet regulated or standardized in terms of professional behavior. There really isn’t a central body or authority that SEO’s or web marketers can follow or be penalized or recognized by like doctors, lawyers or even other marketers have. I think we will see something like that form soon (partly in an effort to solidify their place and separate good, sophisticated practitioners from fly-by-night scammers looking to make a quick buck).

If you are getting back into the practice I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you can work to change people’s minds about SEO’s.

Best,

Shawn

Funny you say that coz i started an seo business last year…

It’s good that there is competition…it shows a healthy market…in London alone there are approx 500 local businesses (imagine reaching 1% of that market)?

As long as there is demand…

Yeah me,
I am feeling the same. Even in my company most of them are dumb. They just want to complete the weekly work allotted by clients. Nobody think about new techniques neither they apply any logic in their work.
I want to start my own work through freelancing, but the problem is too much competition are there and it become more worse when you have no feedback or you are new on that platform.

sorry that should ay over half a million businesses…LOL
