SDHC Card & Storage Options

Hey Guys,

I’m wondering IF there is such a thing out there or not! I’m looking to find some sort of portable storage device that will allow me to transfer videos from my SD Card/Camcorder without the use of a laptop or computer. Basically I want to go straight from SD Card into a portable storage device such as a hard drive or something. I want the whole set up to work independently so I don’t need to be carrying my laptop everywhere with me, I’m sure there has to be something out there! The only option I have right now is to invest in more cards but that’s less than ideal as I’m still limited with the amount of videos I can store on each card.

Do you have any idea of any devices out there that might do what I’m after?

Maybe an HDD based mp3 player of some sort? The trick is to find one that can read, copy and delete from an SD card, even if it’s via a cable (mini or micro B male to USB A female) which a card reading adapter could plug into.

Or, maybe the mp3 player could accept micro SDs, which would require a micro to mini shuttle for the camcorder.

Or, scratch all that and pick up and use a 32gb SDHC card for less than the cost and frustration of my mythic setup. (sorry, I was brainstorming out loud…decided to check the price of current max capacity cards: ~$60 = less than an mp3 player that has less capacity, it exists, and, it’ll work)

Thanks for your advice :slight_smile: I’ll investigate the mp3 player angle, hadn’t though of that one! Unfortunately 32gigs is still not enough for me, I don’t want to be limited with the amount of time a high def video would run for or be stuck to just 32gigs, the cards can get pricey over time and it’s not really ideal if I keep having to buy them. I’ll look into that mp3 option now, let’s hope I find something with at least 2Tb’s :stuck_out_tongue:
