I was on the phone with someone the other day where a link builder had about 10,000 links pointing to a site, and the customer of the site was really mad because almost all the links were super low quality. They wanted them all removed. How would you handle a situation like this?
(the customer was a “bricks and mortar” jewelry shop, and fortunately I was not involved in the link building. I was just trying to give some advice to help)
The customer of the site, as in the owner of the site? If they’re paying you and they ask you to remove the junky backlinks you built for them, you should do it.
Plenty of organisations & businesses care more about their online brand than they do about having 10k junk backlinks pointing at their website. And so they should.
Some clients might pay you to go ahead and build thousands of low quality backlinks, others might want better bang for their buck.
Right - you can’t remove them. Furthermore, why would you care? As long as the junky links aren’t owned by you they won’t hurt your site. If they were owned by you then you’d have the ability to remove them.
