Remove Exif Data

I tried the tool Exif Viewer and it finds a lot of data embedded in pictures/images. What’s a good tool, free or not free, to remove it.

Thanks,

Chris

Isn’t this option available in your image app?

I have imagemagick installed on my PC anyway so can use that - it is free and if you wanted you could modify watermark the image etc. while removing the EXIF data.

It’s certainly available in GIMP (free); I use it all the time.

I believe saving as a png will remove all the EXIF data as well.

I can’t find it in Gimp 2.6. (2.8 uses that force fed extension of their own.)

Use “Export as…” to open the dialogue box:

Click on “Advanced Options” and uncheck “Save EXIF data”:

(Screenshots are from GIMP 2.8, but I don’t recall 2.6 being any different.)

I didn’t remember that it’s part of the Save function. Thanks.
Have any idea why it maks the file a little larger? The only one I left checked is ‘Use quality setting from original image.’

None at all. I usually take out the EXIF and the thumbnail, and that definitely makes the file a little smaller.

[/quote]If they’re already optimised, then fair enough. Otherwise, I highly recommend reducing this a bit.
