Quick XML Question

I’d like to generate XML on the fly when its called that is different depending on which on a user id passed in the query string. Will it cause any problems with feed readers to have a .php extension rather than an .xml extension?

Thanks E.

No, most feeds don’t have a .xml extension in the first place. What matters is the content-type header and that the XML itself be well-formed.

Generating xml on the fly: Sample code

<?php
header('Content-type: text/xml');
$xml_contents = '';
$xml_contents .= '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>'.PHP_EOL;
$xml_contents .= '<items>'.PHP_EOL;
foreach($items as $item){
	$xml_contents .= "\	<item>".htmlentities($item)."</item>".PHP_EOL;
}
$xml_contents .= '</items>';
echo $xml_contents;
?>

Awesome thanks
