Is there any advantage to buying the DVD vs downloading it from the 'net?
Are there any problems if I download from the 'net and, later, install it to a different computer should I buy a new one?
I think its just a preference, I have purchased software and downloaded if over the net and never had a problem. I’ve never done it with Photoshop though, I’m sure you will have no problems.
The obvious advantage of the DVD is the media; in that it’s a legal hardcopy (so obviously can be potentially installed on machines not connected to the web within the licensing terms). Though assuming what you download is just basically an full ‘offline’ standalone installer then essentially the online software will be near identical anyway - just a hefty download instead.
I’d go for the net version. It will be almost the same, but you won’t have to wait for it to arrive (just for it to download) and you can keep it on a hard drive instead of having to hold onto yet another disk.
I would also assume that surely Adobe would keep your record on file of having paid for Photoshop, and therefore should give you the option to download it again and again.
In terms of using it on another computer… if you have just one license, I believe you will need to deactivate it on the original before re-activating it on the new computer.
Does anyone have any real experience with this?
If you’re worried about installing on a new computer, contact Adobe themselves and ask their procedure.
The content on the DVD and in the download are the same.
You can burn the extracted files of the download to a DVD.
If you have a bandwidth cap or low download speeds, the download is not for you, as it is several gigabytes in size.
You can use the digital copy on any computer you want. However, if you want to uninstall the suite and installing on a different computer, just remember to deactivate each program in the suite before uninstalling, otherwise you may have to call adobe in order to re-activate your CD Key when you go to install it.
Yes. I bought the disks. I didn’t download from the Internet, I bought and waited for the actual box to arrive. I did it this way because I would always have the discs to reload the software if ever I needed to.
