Pointing multiple domain names to one site

What’s the easiest or most cost-effective way of doing this? Domain forwarding costs about $50 with my registrar. Is there any easier way to get a bunch of domains to all redirect or forward to one single hosted site?

PHP is a nice way of doing it but, I personally prefer using .htaccess. As Awestmoreland said, create each extra domain as an addon domain. Make sure all the domains share the same directory of public_html.

Create a file called .htaccess in Microsoft NotePad and put it public_html:

Make sure it has the following:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.yoursitehere.com/$1 [R=301,L]

You don’t even need domain forwarding. Any web hosting that allows for multiple domains should allow you to park one domain on another. If your hosting uses cPanel there’s a specific option to ‘park’ a domain.

Domain Forwarding is free at DirectI.
Who is your Registrar and why charging so much!!!

h7,

  1. Get a good registrar. That means that the registrar will allow you to control the DNS pointers which can be redirected at any time to any domain name server (at your host(s)).

  2. At your host(s), you can use their DNS or, if you’re on a good plan with a personal DNS, you can use these to control your “addon domains”.

$50? For WHAT?!? Nonsense!

DK

The answer to this question really depends on what you’re trying to achieve and why, and what hosting (if any) you have set up for each domain.

If each domain has hosting associated with it and you don’t care (or it’s preferable) that the domain in the address bar changes, drop index.php in the root directory for each domain’s hosting containing a PHP redirect.

This is only one solution; perhaps the simplest, but not very elegant.
