OK I’ve requested and received nameservers from my host. I’ve changed them where the domain name is and am waiting for the necessary 24 - 48.
…and something just struck me. As you might have gathered the intricacies of hosting are a bit hazy for me so forgive this, please.
Poking around my host I realised that only my root seems to have nameservers and my sites are directories under this. Have I unnecessarily asked for new ones for this domain name? Should I use the same nameservers as all the rest under my root because that’s where the site folder is?
I eventually found that the others have there own nameservers. I still don’t understand how that connects to the directory on my root even though i have added the domain and it is related to the correct folder. Is that all I have to do?
Thanks mydomainz, I’m going to wait another 24hrs and see if it’s some kind of glitch. I’ve got the nameservers and changed them on the other place. We’ll see what happens.
Each NS has its own IP. This IP is shared by all accounts in shared hosting. If you know the IPs of nameservers, you can also create and use your own nameservers; e.g. ns1.yourdomainname.tld and ns2.yourdomainname.tld
Ask your host IPs of ns1 and ns2
Go to domain management control panel, ‘manage domain’, click your domain and visit ‘child nameserver records’ or something like that in the options. Here you can ctreate the NS records for your domain. Then change the NS records of your domain.
Actually NS are not shared, IPs are shared in the shared hosting.
and there’s no css or images. presumably i need to change the filepaths.
Instead uploading your website in public_html or directory assigned by GoDaddy, you created your own directory and uploaded the pages or so…
