Photoshop CS3 - Maneuvering canvas for freehand erasing

I’m using Photoshop CS3 & working on cleaning up an object I have cut out from its background.

When drawing or erasing curves freehand in traditional mediums, most of us know it is much easier to achieve a smoother or more accurate curves if you can rotate the paper subject to match the natural curve of your hand’s stroke.

Is there any tool or way to handle & maneuver an object in Photoshop CS3 temporarily with no loss of quality while working with it to achieve this?

Can you give more details about what you are exactly trying to do in this specific case?

In this case, after using the magic wand to delete a background, I was cleaning the edges up of the object freehand by erasing. I use bezier curves for some, but just wondered if there was some method that that allowed easy rotation of the selection as needed while working on it (apart from Transforming it) that doesn’t cause quality loss so the natural sweep of your hand is facilitated. Artists do that in traditional mediums, and I believe Painter allows for that as well. For instance a freehand swipe from top to bottom, comes out very “choppy” and I erase parts of my subject that shouldn’t be…it gives me hell so instead of trying over and over, I use the path selection tool for those. But I love to use freehand, coming from a traditional art background…so I just wondered if it was possible.

No, Photoshop cannot do this - but it’s pretty high on my wish list! It’s my favorite feature of Corel Painter, because rotating the canvas while I work is a very natural movement.

could try rotating your pen tablet instead haha.
