If I want every user that registers on my site to have to complete Phone Verification via SMS or Voice, are there any loopholes that would allow one user to create multiple accounts(besides using both their cell phone and landline to create two accounts). I know that there are sites which allow you to purchase phone numbers for Voice and SMS. I believe that gmail is able to determine if the phone number is not from a major carrier such as AT&T, T-Mobile etc… I would like to know if this is true and if so how they are able to determine if the phone number is not from a major carrier. And if they are able to, are there still any loopholes which would allow people to register numerous accounts with different phone numbers?
