As you can see below, this page doesn’t list a category and it displays a 404. It has the unique ID and the post-name only.
http://seo.wrestleview.com/20060-update-on-joey-mercury-and-his-wwe-status/
This is the correct URL with the “wwe-news” as the category, ID and post-name.
http://seo.wrestleview.com/wwe-news/20060-update-on-joey-mercury-and-his-wwe-status/
I have many old pages linked externally without categories, but as soon as I add the category name, it works.
What I want to accomplish is:
Whenever someone visits ANY URL without a category, to automatically forward to the ID and post-name:
http://seo.wrestleview.com/20060-update-on-joey-mercury-and-his-wwe-status/
should forward to this:
http://seo.wrestleview.com/wwe-news/20060-update-on-joey-mercury-and-his-wwe-status/
Without having to do a 301 redirect because I have over 1000 pages affected with this issue.
There must be a way by editing functions.php or something else.
