Isn’t PDO’s lack of Multi-byte character support a reason to not go with PDO. It is luring as it is compiled and is fast and easy but all the work arounds needed to include UTF-8 seem to be a big deterrent if you plan on releasing your product or service in Latin America, Asia, or the Easter countries.
