Paypal IPN payements

What is the best way to handle recurring Paypal IPN payements… The documentation is a little vague on this topic.

I’d tend to say avoid them if at all possible, pre-pay is generally better.

  • Recurring requires your customer to use a credit card. (which drives sales away)

  • Recurring tends to drive honest customers away (fearing hassles of being unable to contact paypal to cancel)

  • Recurring opens you up to theft.

A savvy customer can sign up, wait until just before their time expires, cancel and effectively gain free access. (Not sure if they’ve changed this since then)

I can’t really be all that helpful if you insist on using them, except to give you some reasons why you shouldn’t (or perhaps reasons you can give your client for not using them)
