Padding inconsistencies and alignment trouble

Hi Everyone:

I’ve customized a wordpress theme for my self hosted install and there are a few tweaks I don’t know how to do. I’m having difficulty calibrating the CSS to my needs. The problem is the padding (I think). I’m just a novice so I appreciate you taking a look at this for me.

The website is: www.thompulliam.com

Please take a look at my crude screen shots and help me if you have a solution. It is mainly alignment issues.

Thank you in advance!
Thom

For the heading, you could do this:

h1 {
	font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
	font-size:20px;
	color:#ff6600;
	margin-top:0
}

For the black background, you could try this:

.ppost {
	background-image:url(images/cbg2.png);
	padding: 10px;
	min-height: 388px;
}

To remove the input background image, elimitate the first line in red:

#commentform input {
	background-image:url(images/button2.png); /* remove this */
	height:28px;
	width:78px;
	border:none;
	text-align:center;
	color:#000000;
	margin-left:14px;
	margin-top:10px;
	margin-bottom:10px;
}

Those two fixes did the trick!

The buttons are on the single blog posts pages. Like here: http://www.thompulliam.com/a-letter-to-the-manager/

Thank you!

Yes, I updated my post above regarding the inputs, so see if that helps.

[QUOTE/]To remove the input background image, elimitate the first line in red:

	background-image:url(images/button2.png); /* remove this */

	margin-left:14px;
	margin-top:10px;
	margin-bottom:10px;
}

Doing that removes the button image from another location too. The button is correctly tied to the “submit” button, but incorrectly tied to those text forms. So that fix removes it from both locations. Maybe it is an issue with the labels in comments.PHP?

Ah yes. OK, you can target that submit button easily, so replace the current styles with all of this (new style in blue):

#commentform input {
	height:28px;
	width:78px;
	border:none;
	text-align:center;
	color:#000000;
	margin-left:14px;
	margin-top:10px;
	margin-bottom:10px;
}

#commentform input#submit {
	background-image:url(images/button2.png);
}

That did it. Thanks so much!

You’re welcome. Glad it helped!
