OpenID Authentication

A few years ago I started allowing users to connect their accounts to various social networks via openid. I advertised it as providing a one click sign on as well not needing to remember yet another username/password. in reality, I just didn’t want to have to manage passwords any more. Seemed to work okay. I allow users to map multiple networks (google/facebook etc) to their account in the hopes that they will be able to remember how to sign in to at least one.

This spring I updated one application and made using openid mandatory. Didn’t even give them an option to create user names or passwords. Again, all seems to be going well though admittedly my users number in the hundreds. Planning on moving the rest of my applications over as they get refreshed.

Just curious how many other folks have turned to using openid/oauth/etc exclusively on your sites for user authentication? Any problems?
