Open Source Document Viewer

This probably isn’t the right section for this question, but none of the others seemed to fit either…

I’m looking for an open source document viewer. Something like Scribd’s viewer…

I’ve already looked at flexpaper and google’s viewer, but they don’t suit my purposes. Flexpaper requires a license to re-distributed, and google’s viewer doesn’t seem appropriate for sensitive documents.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What kind of documents are you trying to display online (are they word documents or something more obscure)?

I wouldn’t say any online viewer is a good idea for sensitive documents (as you have no control over indexing).

For sensitive documents, you probably don’t want to be putting them online to begin with.

But, where exactly are you storing them or retrieving them from that they need to be read with an online viewer?

Does it have to be open source, or are you just looking for a freebie?

Are you looking for a desktop app, or a webapp/flash script?

If free and desktop, I highly recommend Foxit Reader. Sumatra is also another one folks also like.

I am definitely looking for a freebie - and web based.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
