So I am thinking of starting a online sports magazine…so what I was wondering is from a SEO perspective, would it be better to have a large site that include all the sports or to have a many small niched sites that only focus in one specic sport?
From an SEO point of view it’s better to go for small niched site so that you can dominate them rather than one very big site except you want to compete with the big websites.
Yes I can see that the management of many sites will be time consuming… So from SEO perspective the to have sport as a subfolder would result in the same kind of traffic as having it on a separate domain?(If all other things are equal)
I think a large site will bring in more income than many small niche sites. But what if that one site gets banned for any reason…I think you can have a mix.
That’s a tough question because there are benefits of both. Having one Kate site would of course be less work because it would be easier to get your link juice up as linking to outer pages trickles down to the main domain.
Then if you create a bunch of small ones you don’t got all your eggs in one basket and you can interlink all the sites together. The bad part of this is you have to get the rank up for each individually which will take much more time.
My suggestion would be the smaller sites if you are willing and prepared to work hard - it will pay off a lot more in the end.
But one idea I do have for you is a medium sized site for the et of your “small niches” and see how you do. If that one site is enough work for you just build on it. If you can handle more then slowly start adding other sites in the small niches!
1 larger site is better and will definitely bring me more traffic from search engines. Also, you will save a lot time from promoting each site individually. However, it helps to create mini sites and backlink them to your main site.
I think quality of the content is the most important aspect for SEO. If the content is quality, I would go with multi-niche sites because each webpage is targeted by SEO, not the websie in general, so you have more SEO “opportunities.”
I would just go with one main site with a CMS like Drupal if you’re wanting to do an online sports magazine. You could always create some smaller niche sites on like Blogger or something and link them to your main site and to each other like a pin wheel. I’ve had some good results with that in the past. Just make sure you keep everything relevant.
If your only concern is SEO for your site or sites, then of course focusing on a single site should work out best for you. Saves you a lot of everything, especially if you believe you can make it a really money making machine. In most cases though, having small niches works well especially if you are more into affiliate marketing. You have to put extra effort on SEO though.
I think one big blog is a way better than many small blogs. Reason is simple first you can put all your time and resources in link building and content writing for one site. Second once you get trust from search engine it will boost traffic for the whole blog. If you really want to go for many niche blogs than creat those blog in the same domain name such as yoursite.com/blog1, yoursite.com/blog2, yoursite.com/blog3 and focus one blog for one niche and other blog for another niche. You can do marketing for each blog separately and at the same time your main site will acquire a status of brand.
