OG Meta tags

On a blogpost detail page, I have a couple of share buttons. In the head section I have the right meta tags in place. However. When I click on, for example, the Facebook button, I indeed go to facebook, and I’m able to share the article but not with the right title and image. Instead the title and image from the index page are displayed. When I click on the link I go to the right page though. What am I doing wrong?

Thnak you in advance

Hard to say without looking at the actual source. Can you post a link to a detail page?

@rpkamp Thanks a lot for the reply. This is a link to the page. Not sure what I’m doing wrong?

Thank you in advance

Cool, I’ll check later when I’m on my laptop. Checking stuff like this is hard to do on a phone.

@rpkamp Thanks a lot

Okay, so I ran it through the facebook opengraph debugger (see https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/?q=https%3A%2F%2Fflying-paradise.com%2Fblog_posts%2Fpost%2F2) and the problem is there is a canonical URL in your HTML (<link rel="canonical">) that doesn’t resolve well and it’s using the information from there.

@rpkamp. Thank you for this info. How is that possible you think? Because when I look in the source the canonical ia ok. How can I solve this?

Have you clicked the canonical? It’s not ok :slight_smile:

@rpkamp I just saw it :banghead: I just added a SSL certificate to the domain i only forgot to adjust the canonical :(. I also used the title instead of the id. Thank you very much

On a side note, I see you have a couple of twitter tags there too, but are missing this one.
