Newbie Help/Suggestion

Hi everyone,

I am currently working for a web hosting company. I am actually a Linux admin and do know some good programming as well. Right now we have almost done with the website and some server side work for them. But now they want the SEO work to be done.

Since this is really something new for me as i have never done that kind of work, but i have been googling around for about 2 weeks and learning the basics of it, how it works, etc. I am really interested to get as most of this SEO.

So it will be really helpful for me if you can help me out in it so i can really do the work as they expecting.

Also i Google out and found tons of SEO tools and software. I think most of them are either not free or just crap :p. i am not also sure is it safe to use these software as not getting banned or something from search engines so please suggest for this also.

Hey there, usmangt,

I would suggest staying away from software that offers promises. You can use helpful free tools like a free copy of Web CEO or Google’s Keyword search tool.

A great reference for learning SEO and being part of a great community would be on SEOmoz.org. Lots of helpful resources and starting points there.

it is better if you do it manual other than software. also you may find lots of ebooks about this on 4shared or similar places

There are two types of SEO process to be done for a website …

  1. On Page SEO
  2. Off Page SEO

For On Page Seo , Do keyword research ,Proper Title, Content with allowed keyword density and Sitemap . For Keyword search you can use google adwords tool and for generating a sitemap you can use sitemapxml.net, this is free sitemap generating tool.

For Off Page SEO , Post on Forums , write Blogs , Bookmark your site , write articles and submit it in various article directories and write a press release for your website and submit it to press release sites… These are the basic SEO strategies i follow as an SEO.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the feedback. I got a question, Our website have a single flash page and is it true that flash cant be SEO? Then i google around and found few links that SEO is enable for flash but will still have few disadvantages. So i am not quiet sure that what is exactly correct for the Flash SEO.
