New Menu Location has got me in muddle :-(

Buon pormeriggio from 7 degrees C wetherby UK :slight_smile:

On this page http://www.davidclick.com/index.html & illustrated here: [URL=“http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/content-nav-location_zpse9f4ba54.jpg”]http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/content-nav-location_zpse9f4ba54.jpg I’m struugling to position an additional menu item in the location i want.

I have successfully positioned it with:
<div style=“position:absolute; top:0;right:0; background:red”>hello</div> but this gets me newvous as i may be messing up with the responsive design on ones site.

If any one could give me a few tips on how to the get the test menu illustrated here http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/content-nav-location_zpse9f4ba54.jpg into the correct position I love to know how.

Thanks,
David

I’m lost. I can’t see that test link anywhere on your page.

Ah ooops, Its not live I tried to position it in preview. So put another way…

"How can a i get an element (in this case named Test) to sit in the location named “Test” as in this example:
http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/content-nav-location_zpse9f4ba54.jpg On this page http://www.davidclick.com/index.html

Just add a div after .main and float it right. You will need to move the ad-tab a few pixels otherwise it will be on top.

e.g.

<div class="main role="main">
<div class="menu-item">Menu item</div>

.menu-item{
float:right;
font-size:140%;
margin:0;/* tweak to move into position*/
}
.adBlock .tab{top:40px}

You may need to adjust it as your media queries kick in.

Ok Ive had another bash at experimenting how to position a future nav position (not Live) on this page http://www.davidclick.com/index.html .Its all illustrated here:
http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/content-nav-attempt-2_zps746d89d4.jpg

And the code is here:

<div fb-xfbml-state="rendered" class="fb-like

fb_edge_widget_with_comment fb_iframe_widget" data-

href="http://www.davidclick.com" data-width="100" data-

height="The pixel height of the plugin" data-

colorscheme="light" data-layout="standard" data-action="like"

data-show-faces="true" data-send="true"

style="width:100%"><span style="height: 65px; width:

285px;"><iframe scrolling="no"

src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?

action=like&amp;api_key=&amp;channel_url=http%3A%2F

%2Fstatic.ak.facebook.com%2Fconnect%2Fxd_arbiter.php%3Fversion

%3D28%23cb%3Df34490b682c2ac2%26domain%3Dwww.davidclick.com

%26origin%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.davidclick.com

%252Ff1bd49180ce523a%26relation

%3Dparent.parent&amp;colorscheme=light&amp;extended_social_cont

ext=false&amp;href=http%3A%2F

%2Fwww.davidclick.com&amp;layout=standard&amp;locale=en_US&amp;

node_type=link&amp;sdk=joey&amp;send=true&amp;show_faces=true&a

mp;width=285" class="fb_ltr" title="Like this content on

Facebook." style="border: medium none; overflow: hidden;

height: 65px; width: 285px;" name="f3641515ca9b20e"

id="f20b9fc7624e316"></iframe></span><p

style="float:right;">TEST</p></div>

So my question is please…

“Is this approach safe to proceed with? i’m concerbed I may break the layout, or some future jinx will be wauiting form me. Basically i exapnded the div container to 100% and that allowed me to position the TEST element exactly where i wanted”

Any advice welcome :slight_smile:

Ah just got this after my effort… Thank you :slight_smile:
