Network file system?

so this is the first time ive heard of such a thing when one of my friends sent me a link over msn about this concept and code doing it and wondered if this is possible?

I’m pretty sure Google does it something like this. Although thay don’t store data on one slave, but on multiple slaves, redundantly, so it doesn’t matter if one of the slaves breaks down.

Most business level security and threat management appliances are very expensive putting them out of the reach of many people and companies.

And what does this have to do with distributed file systems? I don’t see the connection …
