Need Tips on Creating Graphics Package for Downloading

This is kind of a weird question, so bear with me.

I want to create a series of videos that teach the names and locations of the 50 states, the wold’s nations, etc. I’d also like to invite viewers to purchase a collection of graphics associated with each video.

For example, a payment of $10 might get someone a folder filled with an outline map of the United States and three different images for each state - red background, yellow background and a custom design. There might also be a folder filled with graphics of state’s names.

So a teacher could take the outline map, put a red map of Arizona on top of it, then put an image with the name “Arizona” on top of that.

Anyway, I’m wondering what format(s) I should embrace to make this something that people can actually use. Should the images be .png’s, .gif’s or jpg’s? I should probably include both images and Photoshop files, though many people don’t have access to Photoshop.

I don’t have a clue what kind of technology most teachers use to project pictures these days. I imagine many use PowerPoint, which I’m not familiar with. Would they be able to use Photoshop files or .png/.gif/.jpg files with PowerPoint?

If I can figure it all out, I’ll probably hire someone to make an eCommerce script so that people can use a credit card to submit $10, then receive a “key” that will allow them to download compressed file containing all the images.

Thanks for any tips!

It doesn’t really matter which format the images are in: .jpg or .png or .gif. All of those formats can be inserted into a Powerpoint presentation, but frankly I tended to go for making a transparency of the image and using an overhead projector. It was much easier to produce, and much easier to set up the equipment for the lesson. I’m not sure how other countries/regions work, though.

Ah, transparency - that’s the term I was trying to think of.

So if I wanted to accommodate teachers who use transparencies, I’d either have to explain to them how they could convert a graphic image to a transparency or create the transparencies myself and sell them through the mail.

I’m not even sure how to create transparencies. I’ve seen transparent plastic sheets in copy shops, so I guess I could navigate to a web page that displays an image, then simply print it. But would it really be a transparency, or would it print the web page’s background?

That would probably get expensive, too. Maybe I should look into buying special printer?

Thanks.

No, just provide the images online, and let the teachers make the transparencies (they almost certainly have the equipment in their schools) or the powerpoint themselves.

Ah, that makes life much simpler.

One more question. The images for my videos are 1920 X 1080 pixels. Would you happen to know if that’s a size or format that would be problematic for teachers with overhead projectors or PowerPoint? If it is, I could probably just recommend various tools for resizing the images.

Thanks.

They wouldn’t care about the resolution, just the physical size - 8.5" by 11". They might have to print the image, then run it through the machine to make the transparency or they could set it up on their computer and send it online to the machine.

Got it. Thanks a lot for your help.
