Need help with 301 redirects and index pages

Hello

My site has just been rebuilt and I’ve been busy doing 301 redirects for all the old pages. It used to be php and it’s been rebuilt in Drupal with clean URLs.

The old site is here: http://thecareerbreaksite.myzen.co.uk/ and the new one is here: [URL=“http://www.thecareerbreaksite.com.”]http://www.thecareerbreaksite.com.. The old site has a lot of absolute links in the nav.

One issue that’s confusing me is the redirects from pages ending in index.php.

For example, I’ve redirected /employer-information/index.php to http://www.thecareerbreaksite.com/employer-information but if you click on the old link it goes to a 404 page.

I tried doing a redirect in the cpanel of the new site but that didn’t work either.

Also, the W3C link checker tells me my 301 is redirecting to the same link when it isn’t: http://thecareerbreaksite.myzen.co.uk/gap-year-information/index.php is actually redirected to the same URL without the /index.php.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
