Need Help - Wireless Headset Solution

Hi,

I went to market few days to buy a wireless headset ( i.e. both headphone and mic with it )

I see few products which are a little bit expensive but then a guy told me that i can use bluetooth with my PC to make it wireless and it will be cheaper

He told me that i need to buy a blue tooth ( its looks like a small USB ) and then then buy a Hand free ( most commonly used with mobile phone, normally attached in ear ). By which it can work as a Wireless Headset and i can talk even i am away from my Desktop to some other room.

It this really possible, does this really works with Windows XP

Thanks

usman

Hmm this looks nice

Logitech ClearChat PC Wireless Headset is a cool looking and trendy one coming at an economic price.

i would do the same if it was me. i have some philips wireless headsets (without mic) in my studio, and i can wear them all over my house with no problems. but i can see why some would want a small earpiece.

so it’s just for phone conversations. in that case you should be fine with a class 1 bluetooth. I wouldn’t even think about class 2. but you still need to route it to the software, but that should turn out ok.

I would go with wireless and just pay the extra cost, bluetooth signals can be pretty dodgy especially if you’re going beyond a certain range and there is a wall between you and the device. Most Wi-Fi solutions have a stronger range and aren’t as likely to mess with your other equipment. Just a thought!

Well actually i do most of my office work from home now a days and receive calls from my team mates and other people. So want to get rid of sitting for waiting someone call or have to sit in a 3 person conversation voice chat till end.

So that’s the reason to move to wireless so get free mobility.

I am actually looking for a range upto a room or two

it is possible, but what quality are you looking for here? what will you use it for?

I dunno - sounds like a workable option and probably a good one if you already have a bluetooth headset (or earpiece as most of the cellular ones are) - but buying a BT adapter and headset cost about as much as a dedicated wireless headset from what I’ve seen.

Is there a particular reason you really need something wireless? I just got a new corded set to replace my old GameCom 1 for about $18 on ebay and that does the trick for me!

Guys anyone know about this.

When you do consider buying this beware that there are different classes of bluetooth. There is bluetooth class 2 with a range of ~10 meters (or ~ 32 feet) and there is bluetooth class 1 with a range of ~ 100 meters (or ~ 328 feet).
I don’t know how big your house is, but if it’s big(-ish) I’d go for a class 1.
