Need CMS for this?

I am creating a website that will be based on user generated content. My site will be setup in a blog format where I will be making daily posts. I need help figuring out how to create a database to store posts, allowing one post to be published each day automatically.

Should I use a CMS for this? If so, which one?

Eventually I would like to setup my site so that users can submit their own posts, I can approve them, then add them to my database.

What is the best way to accomplish this?

Thank you.

If it’s a blog it’s got to be wordpress :). Easy to setup and maintain and you get a loads of plugin. Buy the thesis theme and then you can customize your blog the way you want. Let me know if you have any more concerns.

You may choose the blog related website, such as Wordpress, Typepad. I use Wordpress and found it is user friendly. May check it out!

Yes… wordpress is best CMS for blogs. It is search engine friendly, user friendly, easy to customize and there are a lot of plugins freely available to upgrade your blog…

I have the layout of my site coded in HTML and CSS.

I installed wordpress.

Now what’s the next step to integrate the two?

I have moved this thread to the WordPress Forum since it doesn’t discuss blog content and does ask how to get a WP blog up and running.

Sorry, I was directed by the sitepoint community manager to post this concern in the blogging forum.

In WordPress you can set a post to a later date, by changing the date on the right hand side then hit publish. See: Publishing your post at a later date « WordPress.tv
For the have users submit articles, and you check, read: Roles and Capabilities

Off Topic:

no problem, just wanted you to know why I moved it.

Thanks for the input. That is exactly what I needed to know about publishing posts at later dates.

Do you know if it’s possible to set posts to be automatically published once a week rather than manually scheduling a date and time for each post? I plan to draft up 100 posts ahead of time and have one published each week. It would be so tedious to manually set a date and time for each post.

What’s so great about the thesis theme?

You are welcome. I found WordPress › Auto-Schedule Posts « WordPress Plugins and [url=http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/automatic-post-scheduler/]WordPress › Automatic Post Scheduler « WordPress Plugins. The first one may be what you are looking for.

I already have the layout of my site coded in html and css. What’s the easiest way for me to develop or customize a theme to look exactly like my current site layout? Can someone point me in the right direction.

Thanks for all the input everyone.
