I was trying to analyze how Google looks at my pages. So I opened one of my inner pages of my Site http://www.sportsbun.com and Clicked on the Cached Snapshot of the page via Google Toolbar and observed the Text Only Version.
I noticed that at the top of the text only cached version of my page consisted of all my links which are placed in the navigation menu at the top of my site.
Now I am probably guessing its not SEO Friendly as for each of my post pages it is going to show the very same links on the top and then the content which I actually want Google to read first.
Let me know if I need to completely remove the navigation bar at the top and place it in the side bar or so. Will it impact my rankings and make it better for SEO.
Whether or not the relative position of your content within the file affects SEO is often debated and nobody has ever given a definitive answer. I personally don’t think it makes any difference.
I have tested moving the navigation to the bottom of the HTML (using CSS to absolutely position the navigation back to the top) on a PR6 website for a 6 month period, before going back to navigation on top - there was no impact to rankings.
